So how did it start?

The Reset Room was born out of necessity. After more than 10 years in the field of pelvic floor physical therapy, I could feel the weight of the work. Each patient’s story, each patient’s trauma, every time a patient was gaslit by a doctor - it adds up. I’d try meditation, breath work, talking to my partner, talking to my therapist, going to yoga or pilates, but the load didn’t lighten. I knew something had to change.

Then I had a thought, mental health providers get together for peer consultation groups, why couldn’t pelvic floor therapists do the same thing? I’ve met with so many mental health providers during my time as a physical therapist and have always been in awe of their ability to support each other through discussion of the clinical strain that comes from being in a helping profession. The emotional labor is real in all helping professions, so why not start something similar?

But the mental health therapists had an advantage. They are the experts at processing the compassion fatigue that occurs when you work with people in the manners that we do. I knew for this to be good, I mean really good, impactful, career-sustaining work, we needed the support of the professionals. Cue Jake.

Jake & I met in late 2024 and when I say we hit it off I mean we hit it off so well our first meeting turned into a four hour lunch. We aligned on virtually everything when it came to our clinical approaches working with patients, personal matters, and pretty much everything in between. I instantly knew Jake was someone I wanted in my corner from here on out. So when it came time to pull in the professionals for this project I knew there was only one choice: Jake.
